国際化が進み多様性豊かな社会が形成されている現代において、テコンドー道場はテコンドーという共通の目的を通じた国際友好・相互理解を実践する場になっています。
テコンドー・ファラン朴武館では様々なバックボーンを持つ会員が所属し、日々の稽古の中で多くの国際交流がなされています。
今回のSTORYでは、遠くイランから来日し、赤十字などの国際的な機関で活躍する傍ら、テコンドーの修練にも励むファルナズ・ハティビ（Farnaz Khatibi）さんをご紹介します。

生い立ち
早速ですが、ファルナズさんの生い立ちについてお聞かせください。

私は、イランで生まれて、25歳までイランで過ごしました。
その後、トルコやマレーシアを旅し、フランスでは２年間大学で学び博士学を取得しました。その際に日本文学にも触れました。
I was born in Iran and raised to 25 old. After that, I traveled to Turkey, Malaysia and France where I studied for two years at a university and obtained a doctoral degree.
At that time, I touched on Japanese literature.

来日のきっかけ

イランでは様々な日本文学が翻訳されとても流行っていました。
特に、太宰治や村上春樹、カズオ イシグロが有名でした。
またフランスの大学で日本文学に触れることがあり、日本にとても興味を持ち来日しました。
Various Japanese literature was translated in Iran and was very popular. Osamu Dazai, Haruki Murakami, and Kazuo Ishiguro were especially famous. I also came to Japan because I was exposed to Japanese literature and culture in Iran and I was very interested in Japan.

横浜国立大学で法医学や自然人類学の研究をしたり、学生にロジカルシンキング、プレゼンテーションの作り方などを教えています。
また、赤十字にも所属し、法医学の知識を活かして疫病が発生した地域に派遣され、死因の特定や、治療法の発見等の活動をしています。
本来であれば、次回は中央アフリカを訪れ、現地で赤十字のミッションを行う予定でしたが現在はコロナの影響で未定となっています。

イランやフランスにいるときに日本については文学や映画で知っていましたが、外から見る日本と実際に住んでみる日本はまるで違っていました。
また、これまで様々な国を訪れましたが日本の治安の良さには本当に驚きました。パリでは全ての店に防犯用のシャッターがあるが日本ではそんな事はありません。
また、夜の10時以降は外出することが危険というのがパリの常識でしたが日本ではそのようなことがなくとても驚いています。

テコンドーを始めた理由

私はイランでテコンドーを習っていました。そのため、また始めようと思い道場を訪れました。
実はイランにいるときに膝を痛めて治療をしたことがあります。
そして、医師から膝周りの筋力をつけたらよいと勧められ色々な運動をしていますが、馴染みのあるテコンドーをもう一度始めようと思ったのがきっかけです。
Since I was practicing Taekwondo in Iran, I visited the dojo to start again. While in Iran, I hurt my knee and left sport because of my injury. later in Japan I was advised by my doctor to strengthen around my knees, and I am doing various exercises, but I decided to restart withTaekwondo again.

朴師範を始め会員、全員がフレンドリーな事にとても驚いた。まるで家族のように接してくれます。
これまで、様々な日本のコミュニティーに属してきましたが、どのコミュニティーも人とコミュニケーションを行うのに外国人に対して見えない壁があり、打ち解けるにはとても時間が掛かりました。しかし、朴武館ではそのような壁が一切なく、皆が気さくに話しかけてくれることに本当に驚きました。
一番印象的だったのは、入会して1か月くらいしか経っていないのに、埼玉県大会に来ないか？と誘われ、最後の打ち上げまで参加させてもらったことです。これには本当に驚いたし、嬉しかったです。
なぜなら、日本社会では何をするにも手続きや許可が必要だったり、段取りを踏む必要があると感じていたからです。しかし、朴武館ではそのような事は一切なく、入ってすぐの私を受け入れてくれたことが本当に嬉しかったです。
I was very surprised that everyone, including Master Park, were friendly. They treat me like a family.
Up to now, I have belonged to various Japanese communities, but it took a long time for each community to communicate because of the invisible barrier to foreigners. However, at Park Bukan, there was no such wall, and I was really surprised that everyone talked to me kindly.
What impressed me the most was that I hadn’t been to the Saitama prefectural championship. It’s been only one month has since I joined. I was invited to participate until the final launch. I was really surprised and happy about this.
Because I felt that Japanese society needed more tolerance and acceptance towards differences However, there was nothing like that at Park Bukan, and I was really happy to accept me as soon as I entered.

日本にいつまで入れるか分からないが、いる間に様々なテコンドー技術を学びたいです。また、可能なら黒帯も目指したいと思っています。
I don’t know how long I will be in Japan, but I want to learn various Taekwondo techniques while I am there. I would like to aim for a black belt if possible.
